Operation Sindoor: India Cancels over 300 Flights and Shuts Down 25 Airports After Missile Strikes on Camps
Flights across northern and western India was severely disrupted on Wednesday, May 7, as INDIA launched Operation Sindoor, a strategic military action targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Subsequently, airline authorities temporarily cancelled over 300 flights and closed 25 airports, bringing major regional air operations to halt effecting many passengers.

According to sources, major airlines such as Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Akasa Air, and Air India Express, and several international airlines, suspended flights to various cities such as Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Amritsar, Pathankot, Chandigarh, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Shimla, Dharamshala, and Jamnagar.
The order came after Indian armed forces attacked missile strikes on high terror infrastructures in the Pakistan occupied borders, including Jaish-e-Mohammad’s base in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s camp in Muridke.

Sources in the aviation industry revealed that IndiGo alone cancelled over 165 flights, with major airport hubs like Srinagar and Amritsar are heavily affected. The airline is offering free rescheduling or full refunds of flights to affected passengers.
Similarly, Air India and Air India Express grounded around 140 flights, and customers impacted by cancellations are given a one-time rescheduling waiver or a complete refund.
